Having it as an option would be nice, with a configurable timer. I've implemented something that could be adapted to this over at my fork Mikegrann de2ac7c. Currently I just use it to automatically delete a handful of messages like! Now it would be a simple matter to be able to automatically delete any other messages the bot posts you'll notice the bot already does this for some audio commands.

I just have a hard time seeing the appeal. What kinds of things, specificallywere you thinking about having disappear automatically? Basically just the bots responses and the users command message, simply to keep the level of messages between users and the bot down to a minimum but still being able to use it as much as we like.

I see what you're going for here. It's doable, but I see some problems with it. First, it would require a fairly ugly rewrite in order to also delete the user's message alongside the bot's response. Still doable, but it'll be bloated and structured in a way I wouldn't like. Second, between the time that the bot sends the message and the time that it autodeletes it, there's a task sitting there scheduling that deletion to happen at some time in the future.

If the time before deletion is too long and many messages accumulate, that may become a problem haven't tested it. But if the time before deletion is too short, then other members might miss out on parts of the conversation because it disappears too quickly.

I just have a hard time seeing this working out well. Maybe another dev who understands its use better will come along and try to implement it. For now I'd suggest making use of! I'll look into making a new! I'll also be on the lookout for other opportunities to reduce clutter, like maybe deleting the user message for custom commands while maintaining the bot response, or perhaps deleting some simple responses that wouldn't be missed shortly after being used, like!

We used to use it on a bot for plug. Skip to content. Dismiss Join GitHub today GitHub is home to over 40 million developers working together to host and review code, manage projects, and build software together. Sign up. New issue.

In that sense, Discord is no different from any other corner of the internet. Discord allows its users to report abusive behavior, but they need to provide the details of the conversation in question. However, those who engage in abusive behavior often delete their messages minutes or even seconds later, thus preventing you from even taking a screenshot.

Many Discord users are thus wondering if there is a way to access deleted messages on the platform. This article will answer that question, as well as explain how you can deal with harassment on Discord. Unfortunately, once a message has been deleted by the sender, there is no way to retrieve it. For one, storing deleted messages would be against the rules of the platform and would breach the privacy of its users. Instead, you need to collect a few ID numbers, write them down, and send them to the Discord team via a report form.

As such, whenever you receive an improper message, you should immediately record all three IDs and take a screenshot of the message. Even if the message gets deleted, as long as you have the server ID and the user ID, you can still report it and attach the screenshot as proof. If you fail to do so, you can still try to submit a report, but the support team may not be able to identify the sender and take appropriate action. Have you ever received an offensive message on Discord?

Did you report the abuse and did the support team react accordingly?
